About Benitses
Benitses is a cute fishing village located just 12 km south of beautiful Old Corfu Town centre. Benitses offers a unique combination of beach and mountain, old and new, traditional and modern. The village offers peaceful and relaxing holidays with a quality choice of serviced apartments, hotels, restaurants, cafe-bars and a yachts' harbor.
Benitses' vibrant local community is open and friendly to international visitors and used to welcoming tourists since approximately the early 60's. The once traditional fishing village has transcended itself through time into a cosmopolitan fishing resort going through some difficult stages in the process.

Benitses brief history
Benitses is a very old, traditional fishing village with a mild climate and natural beauty. Benitses village was firstly discovered by British tour operators somewhere around late 70's. Since then Benitses has transcended in time from a mass tourism resort to what it is today, which is a peaceful and relaxing village by the seas and in the middle of Corfu Island.
Benitses today
Today Benitses offers a variety of life suitable for every resident as well as tourists. Benitses restaurants range from fish taverns, charcoal-grill taverns, restaurants serving a selection of Corfiot, Greek and international cuisine, traditional Greek coffee bars (kafeneion) and bars serving meze (and locally produced ice-creams too) to creperies creating an evening and daytime full of choices. Shopping at Benitses shops is an excellent choice as they are very reasonably priced and much cheaper than Corfu town centre. Benitses yacht harbor is an additional attraction for sailing lovers.
Benitses has a network of footpaths and small roads suitable for walking, jogging and cycling to discover the natural beauty of Corfu. Benitses is ideal for walks along beautiful trails up to Benitses Springs and Mount Pantokrator. Walking trails lead to Stayros and Aggi Deka village with excellent views to the East and West side of the island. The old village of Benitses is full of character and charm. The local community is well known for its traditions and strong religious background, making it a safe haven for families and visitors appreciating traditional Greek family values.
Benitses beach - A Blue Flag beach
Benitses beach is an organized shingle and sand beach with sun beds and umbrellas available. Benitses beach is a relatively narrow strip of a mixture of sand shingle and pebbles beach. It is common for local beach bars to offer sun beds and umbrellas for free to sunbathers taking drinks from the bar. Sun beds and umbrella rates vary between 2-3 Euros per person depending on the season.
Water sports are also available on the beach
Water quality: Benitses beach water quality is in compliance with the requirements and standards for excellent bathing water quality according to the international beach governing body of Blue flag. National beach qualification with no industrial or sewage related discharges affecting the beach area. Monitoring on the health of coral reefs located in the vicinity of the beach Benitses beach has continuously and consistently fulfilled and awarded the Blue Flag as part of the municipality of Achilion Benitses. www.eepf.gr or www.blueflag.org
Beach safety: adequate number of lifeguards and/or lifesaving equipment available at the beach. There is a life guard at main Benitses beach at the village centre.
Benitses beach alternatives
Barracuda swimming pool: Run by two sisters Elli and Marina. Small entry fee of approx 2 euro covers sun bed and umbrella! In the village there is also a choice of swimming pools of which many do not charge entry fee as long clients buy drinks from the bar.
